Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the Church’s 40-day season of repentance, fasting, and preparation for Easter. In the Anglican tradition, this day serves as a solemn call to self-examination, humility, and renewal before God. It is a time to acknowledge our sinfulness and need for God’s mercy, remembering the words from Genesis 3:19: “You are dust, and to dust you shall return.” This reminder of our mortality is not meant to lead us to despair but to point us toward the hope found in Christ.
